I have now had a chance to review Woodworking4Home, the woodworking plans package by the professional joiner John Metz.  I have to say that it is the most complete package of its kind that I have seen so far, irrespective of price. So, what do you get for your money?

The Woodworking 4 Home kit contains a collection of plans, drawings, photos and videos for a huge range of woodwork projects, large and small, indoor and outdoor.  John claims there are 14,000 plans in the package.  I haven’t counted them but the downloads go on for page after page and I have no reason to doubt his claims.  I did look at a few projects that are close to my heart.  For instance, there are:

  • 78 varieties of shed
  • 95 plans for gazebos
  • 57 chicken coop plans
  • 69 types of log cabin

Quite a selection, and surely more than enough for most people looking for a plan to help them build their favorite project.

And there are plans for barns, carports, garages, decks, kennels, greenhouses, rabbit hutches, kids playgrounds, pergolas, sheds in many shapes and sizes, and many smaller projects such as workbenches, tables, chairs, fences and such.  Quite an impressive list, and it seems to me to cover pretty well everything that either a novice or experienced carpenter might need.

As part of my Woodworking4Home review I was keen to examine the quality and clarity of the Woodworking4Home plans themselves, and I wasn’t disappointed.  Each set of plans includes detailed instructions (step-by-step for the more complicated projects) and the all important materials list.  The plans themselves are very clear three-view, with additional isometric diagrams for further clarity, and all measurements are shown properly and unambiguously.  This is often not the case with plans available over the internet – you can be left wondering what a particular dimension applies to, or what the heck is the size of a critical item.

Accompanying all this are a Woodworking Guide and a Woodworking Tips manual, which even a professional woodworker will find useful.  There are photos and video tutorials available to download if required.  There are also a number of woodwork-4-home bonuses being offered at present, although this aspect is outside my remit for this review.

I noted that there is a free updates service, which is useful, and a proper money-back guarantee, which I regard as essential for all products bought online.

Overall, this is a good quality product that is suitable for beginners and advanced woodworkers alike.  It offers a huge range of woodworking projects and the detailed plans to accomplish them without confusion, waste or exasperation.

The conclusion of my Woodworking 4 Home review? This is a highly recommended product.
